Random Stuff

Well, I seem to have overcommitted myself again this week. I keep telling myself that I'm not going to do it and then I look at my calender and woops! So, I've been trying to shift some things around which will make next week a little full, but not too bad.

Part of my over committment (the most fun part) is that I'm coordinating M & D's wedding. They got engaged in January and are getting married in October. They have the camp reserved and the dress bought and that's about it, so we'll have a busy few months, but it'll be really fun.

This weekend I'm heading to Ohio. J can't come cause he has to work on Sunday, but it'll be fun anyway. My hope is to see my friends who just move from Chi-town to Dayton last week on Friday then to head to Mom and Dad's. The main reason for my trip is see friends from Detroit and Pittsburg. My Pittsburg friend had a baby in February so this will be my (and I think my mom's) first time meeting this new little family member. :) Anyway, I'm looking forward to it.

Well, this is short, but J is in the kitchen doing dishes. I ought to be a good wife and go help him :).

Finally... and Tag

I've been trying for two months to get this picture of J and I up on the sidebar. Evidently Safari doesn't like this feature. I opened it up in Firefox and it worked beautifully. Don't know why I didn't try it sooner.

Well, as you can see, the blogging thing hasn't been as consistent as I had hoped. However, thanks to Amy, I'm back. I've been tagged. I guess that means that I'm supposed to list 7 interesting things about myself. Huh. Well, here goes... I don't know how interesting this will be, but no one's forcing you to read so I won't put too much pressure on myself :).

1. I love to read. This is a fairly new revelation for me as I only really love to read fiction and throughout my years in school I only ever read textbooks or other bits of required reading. I love the Harry Potter books (I've read each of them 2-3 times with the exception of book 6. I'm almost through my second read on that - preparing for book 7, you know). I also love "Till We Have Faces" by C.S. Lewis. It's a little boring and annoying in places, but I love how the end ties everything together. Love the message. Overall, probably one of my favorite books.

2. I like to sing. I'm not nearly as good as I used to be as I don't sing nearly as much as I used to. Funny how that works. But I still enjoy it primarily in the shower. At times, I put on a show with my cat - she loves to dance with me - goes totally limp in my arms and purrs like a maniac (super cute).

3. I love being outside. My top favorite outdoor activities include, laying on a blanket reading; going to the arboretum (we renewed our membership for 2 more years); hiking; biking; driving with the windows and country music blaring.

4. I love country music. This doesn't tend to be popular "Katie feature" with my friends, but they love me so they put up with it. I also love some Jazz, classical, some Christian, some rock, some alternative. Not really into rap or the super hard stuff (J loves this stuff).

5. I never took a good picture in my life until my wedding (maybe a slight exaggeration - but only slight). Typically every picture would catch me talking or eating or just doing something really weird with my mouth. Not kidding. I was really worried about our wedding photos and if we were going to get any with me in them that were presentable. Remarkably, most of them were pretty good and ever since then, I've not really had a problem with it. Maybe something about constantly being photographed for and entire day just broke that weird mouth position phase (that lasted for 30 years).

6. I really like to write. I wrote a lot in high school, mostly poetry. I lot of it was really dark - that will be a surprise to anyone who knows me - you know, that whole teenage angst thing. Anyway for years and years I didn't write or journal or anything, and suddenly I've got the bug again. We'll see if I end up writing anything that people find worth reading.

7. I like to do crafty stuff. Really. I just have a very short attention span. So basically, I start a project, then I get either distracted or bored and put it down. Sometimes it's months or years before I pick it back up again. Sometimes never. Amy has inspired me to learn to knit so I decided to teach myself. I did 2-3 rows over and over again to get the hang of it. That was about a month ago. Not only have I not gotten any further, My cat bit the ball of yarn off the work I had complete, so I'll have to begin again. It was just practice, but come on.

Anyway, I don't really know anyone who blogs except for Joel and Jeremy, so have at it guys. You're it.
